Notice: Ps2Fantasy.com has been undergoing a major redesign for a long time. Ps2Fantasy.com will soon become PsFantasy.com, a professional network of websites covering all PlayStation platforms. We will offer more updates than ever, in-depth content, and a series of services to our community. During this process, functionality of this website and frequency of updates are very limited.
Developed by Naughty Dog, the company behind the whole series and the multi-million unit selling Crash Bandicoot games on PlayStation, Jak 3 continues along the more mature path explored by the second installment of the series. The colorful world of the original Jak and Daxter was replaced in Jak II by a dark, sinister atmosphere, and well advertised more mature themes.
What's sure, Jak II tried to narrate a deeper story than the original game. Jak 3 starts where the previous game ended with Haven City still immersed in deadly chaos as three groups fight for control of the streets. The people of Haven City have started to fear Jak's dark powers, and rumors of ties between Jak and the evil Krew and Kor are spreading fast. Banished to the wasteland, Jak, Daxter, and Pecker must embark on a new quest in search of redemption.
Jak 3 introduces many additions that will please fans of action games. Jak has new Light Eco powers next to the Dark Eco abilities of the past installment, he is equipped with a special Morph-Gun that utilizes 12 new gun types, and he has access to several kinds of off-road transportation, including lizards, hovercrafts and off-road-vehicles featuring realistic physics. Jak 3 will also feature many enhancements to the already powerful technology behind previous games. AI of the enemies has been improved with wall climbing and smart formation capabilities, and "Ragdoll Physics", which are becoming common in most modern action games, have been implemented to let players witness a unique death for each enemy that is killed.
"Jak 3 is an evolution of the Jak and Daxter story Naughty Dog wanted to tell when they first began work on Jak and Daxter: The Precursor Legacy," said Grady Hunt, senior producer, product development, Sony Computer Entertainment America. "We are pleased that Jak 3 is part of our stellar PlayStation 2 holiday lineup, as the game will immediately immerse players into a fast-paced action and seamless adventure that will drive the story along through twists and turns until the final climax -- where all is finally revealed."
"Naughty Dog never rests on its laurels," said Evan Wells, studio director, Naughty Dog. "It's important to us to keep the universe fresh, so with each outing in the Jak and Daxter franchise, we looked at ways to create a game that offered the player a brand new experience that built on the previous games. Looking back at all of the ideas we were able to implement for Jak 3, we are confident this is our best game yet."
