Sony and Microsoft cut console prices in Europe
New street price for both consoles in Europe - has the battle for Christmas already begun?
Wednesday, August 18, 2004 - Today, Sony and Microsoft announced almost simultaneously a price cut for their consoles. Sony Computer Entertainment Europe announced that the new suggested price, effective immediately, for PlayStation 2 is £104.99; Microsoft offers an even lower price for its Xbox, but the price cut for the green and black console will be effective only next week, from Friday 27th August. The Xbox will retail at "just" £99.
Both the PlayStation 2 and Xbox promises an amazing fall for gamers. PlayStation 2 players will get exclusive games like Gran Turismo 4, Metal Gear Solid 3, Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, and The Getaway: Black Monday. Xbox gamers will get Fable, Halo 2, Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory, and Doom 3.
Sounds like a great Christmas for gamers.
