Battlefield: Modern Combat delayed
The developers need more time to add a single-player mode.
Tuesday, July 13, 2004 - EA and Digital Illusions today announced that the companies have decided to delay the release of Battlefront: Modern Combat, the first-ever Battlefield game for console, from the original fall 2004 release to a fall 2005 release.
This long delay has been caused, apparently, by the decision of adding a single-player mode to the game; the extended development time will also let Digital Illusions add new maps and features to the game.
"Adding more time to the development cycle of the game will result in a more expansive feature set and a more compelling product," said Greg Richardson, General Manager, EA Partners. "We are confident that this decision will result in a stronger title and continue the advancement of the Battlefield brand."
