Vivendi announces development of Robots
Game based on FOX's upcoming animated movie to be released on multi-platform.
Wednesday, June 23, 2004 - Vivendi Universal Games today announced the Robots - a game based upon Twentieth Century Fox's CG animated feature film directed by Academy Award-winner Chris Wedge of Ice Age fame - is currently in development by Eurocom Entertainment Software (console and PC) and Griptonite Games (Game Boy Advance) for a first quarter 2005 launch to coincide with the theatrical release of the Robots film.
All the characters and the world of the movie will be featured in the game. In Robots, an evil tyrant menaces to take over the Robots' world; the main hero must hop on a train and travel to a mechanical metropolis to save his world. The main hero, a robot, will have the ability to turn his parts into cool and unique gadgets necessary to proceed in the adventure.
"We are thrilled to partner again with the talented team at Twentieth Century Fox to extend what is sure to be a blockbuster movie event into a highly interactive and vibrant game experience for Robots fans of all ages," said Philip O'Neil, President, Vivendi Universal Games. "The collaboration will result in an exciting and graphically brilliant game that integrates the best elements of this CGI-animated feature with 3D action/adventure gameplay."
"Our Robots partnership with VUG has been a collaborative effort from the start and we look forward to their continued commitment in creating a new standard for film licensed games," stated Peter Byrne, EVP, Twentieth Century Fox Licensing and Merchandising. "They have truly captured the world of Robots and this game is as visually stunning as the movie itself. It is sure to top the best-seller lists come March 2005 and beyond."
The first two screenshots of the game are available in our gallery.
