PlayStation 2 version to arrive in stores this Autumn - complete with some extras.

- Codemasters today announced the release of TOCA Race Driver 2: The Ultimate Racing Simulator for the PlayStation 2, in a special edition complete with exclusive content. TOCA Race Driver 2 is already available on Xbox and PC.

The PlayStation 2 version will include a new circuit, Catalonia, and an expanded Championship structure allowing 99 additional track and car combinations. A super realistic mode, "Pro-Sim mode" will be featured in the game, and PlayStation 2 players will also be able to save replays.

TOCA Race Driver 2 features 35 of the world's most powerful big-name racing and street cars in 33 championships covering 15 different motor racing styles including GT Sports Car Racing, Street Racing, Rally, DTM, V8 Supercars, Global GT Lights, Rally Cross, Formula Ford, Open Wheel Grand Prix, Classic Car Racing, Super Truck racing, Stockcar Oval Racing, Ice-Racing, Convertible Racing, and Performance Cars.

The game features 52 racing circuits including Laguna Seca, Surfers Paradise, Euro Speedway, Donington Park, Kyalami and Road America circuits. Instead than releasing a simple port of the PC and Xbox version, Codemasters' TOCA development team has reconstructed the game completely. According to the company, TOCA Race Driver 2 will run at 60 frames per second and with up to 21 drivers on track at the same time. Adaptive AI will change according to the level of the player's racing expertise; "The computer-controlled drivers are no pushover: they'll fight to hold their line, try to out-brake and out-maneuver you, and even carry grudges over from race to race" announced Codemasters. A realistic damage engine and advanced physics will make the experience believable, so that a bad accident could mean the end of your race.

The PlayStation 2 edition of TOCA Race Driver 2: The Ultimate Racing Simulator will launch this October, complete with online play functionality for up to 8 players. The game will be published as "DTM Race Driver 2" in Germany/Benelux and as "V8 Supercars 2" in Australia / New Zealand.
