EA announces Battlefield: Modern Combat
The mighty PC franchise will debut on a console for the first time.
Thursday, April 15, 2004 - Electronic Arts announced today that the successfull, critically acclaimed Battlefield franchise will debut on Playstation 2 with a game titled Battlefield: Modern Combat. The title, scheduled for a late 2004 worldwide release, is currently under development by Digital Illusion.
Set in modern times, the game lets players use high tech weapons and vehicles through a series of new expansive environments. Players can choose to fight for one of the three available military superpowers: the United Stats, the Chinese, or the Middle East Coalition. Battlefield: Modern Combat includes over 70 modern weapons and advanced weapon systems, including heat-seeking missiles and laser designated bombs; the game also features over 30 playable vehicles, including tanks and helicopters.
The game hottest feature will be the full support for online gaming. With a Playstation 2, a broadband connection, and a Network Adapter, players will be able to fight epic battles with up to 24 players. Chat via a USB headset will be also supported.
