Wednesday, March 26, 2003 - Vivendi Universal Games and Interplay Entertainment announced the development of Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance II, the sequel to Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance. The original game was released on Playstation 2 in 2001, and hit the Xbox and the Gamecube in 2002, selling over one million units worldwide. The new game is being developed by Interplay's Black Isle Studios, and will be released for the PlayStation 2 and the Xbox at the end of 2003.

"The move to develop for the console systems with Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance allowed the team to bring new adventure and life into the series and enhance the franchise," states Feargus Urquhart, president of Black Isle Studios.

The game takes place in the Dungeons & Dragons Forgotten Realms world, and will use the 3rd Edition Dungeons and Dragons rules set. Game features should include:

• Improved graphics
  
• A new item creation system
