Arc The Lad Collection for PsOne ships
Working Designs has announced that the Arc the Lad Collection, the largest game anthology ever released for a video game console in North America, has shipped today.
Thursday, April 18, 2002 - Working Designs is pleased to announce that the long-awaited role-playing anthology, Arc the Lad Collection, has shipped for the Sony PlayStation game console. Offering more than 100 hours of gameplay from four complete games on six CDs, Arc the Lad Collection is being considered by the Guinness Book of World Records for the record of largest game anthology ever released for a video game console in North America.
"Arc the Lad Collection gives role-playing fans everything they didn't get emotionally from all the RPGs released in the last year," said Victor Ireland, president of Working Designs. "This collection is extremely engrossing, with great characters and a fabulous story. When people finish it, it feels like they just finished a really great book. It's extremely satisfying to play, generally darker than most people expect, and occasionally funny."
Arc the Lad tells the story of a youth named Arc who learns that the
delicate balance of nature in his world has been drastically upset by evil forces in the power-hungry country of Romalia. Only by gaining the help of the five Guardians can Arc and his companions overcome their foes and prevent the destruction of their world. The adventure only gets bigger in Arc the Lad II, where many new characters, new nations and new evils are exposed, culminating in a final showdown that will determine the fate of all life. A monster-catching ability is also featured in Arc the Lad II, and players can even download their monsters to do battle in the Arc Arena bonus game. Arc the Lad III, set several years after the previous events, concludes the collection by introducing all-new characters and bringing back old favorites as they tie up loose storylines and battle a new source of corruption.
Called "an RPG fan's dream come true" by Official PlayStation Magazine, Arc the Lad Collection also features an unprecedented number of bonus incentives, including a "Making of Arc the Lad" documentary CD, a hardcover 150+ page leatherette instruction manual, and an Omake (Japanese for "extra") box containing: 22 character mini-standees, a custom plastic memory card holder embossed with a character from the game, and four custom analog thumb-button covers. Two massive strategy guides, with volume 1 covering Arc the Lad I & II, and volume 2 covering Arc the Lad III, are set for release from Working Designs in the coming months as well.
With an ESRB rating of "Teen" for violence, suggestive themes, and mild language, Arc the Lad Collection carries a suggested price of $74.99.
