Great news for all the owners of a Ps2. Square has officially confirmed the release of Final Fantasy X for December 18th!

- "Square Electronic Arts, the exclusive publisher of all SQUARESOFT® products in North America, announced today that FINAL FANTASY X, a PlayStation 2 exclusive and the latest installment in the best-selling FINAL FANTASY series, will start shipping to retailers nationwide on Tuesday, December 18, 2001, weeks earlier than the originally scheduled release of January. Consumers can expect to find the game on retail shelves beginning December 20. The game was released in Japan on July 19 and sold through 90% of the 2.14 million units it shipped in the first four days. It is the first PlayStation 2 title to reach the 2 million-unit mark. Square’s FINAL FANTASY game series to date has sold more than 35 million units worldwide.

FINAL FANTASY X is the story of Tidus who, after miraculously surviving the destruction of his homeland, awakens among ruins and thereafter meets a young woman named Yuna. As a summoner, Yuna must travel to distant temples and learn the secret art of summoning aeons—powerful spirits of yore, in order to defeat "Sin." FINAL FANTASY X features the first English voiceovers for a Final Fantasy title and has a distinct Asian influence, bringing a fresh feel to the characters, music, settings and story.
