Graphics : 9.0

The graphics have been greatly improved over the past year. All jaggies have been eliminated, all wrestlers look like their real-life counterparts now. All characters are fairly detailed with realistic looking faces, height and muscle definition are all correct, and they all have their signature wrestling attire on.

The arenas have been beautifully recreated and look just like as in real-life, even the pay-per-view arenas have all been recreated in the game. Boiler rooms, hallways, locker rooms; All look great in their own respect also. The individual people in the crowd are made of pixels but look smooth and their arms move fluidly. While making your way towards the people in the crowd they get out of your way by sliding across the floor, which looks kind of cheap.

Each wrestler’s entrance has been recreated and look exactly like the real life entrances. Triple H comes out with his bottle and climbs up the turnbuckle, Stone Cold comes out and walks around in the ring, and Edge and Christian come out doing little poses while coming done the ring. They look great and are fun to watch, and some of them make you feel like you are watching Smackdown on T.V. Like Y2J's entrance which has been recreated to the tee.

The most impressive part in the graphics category has to be the animations because they have been re-done perfectly, and each wrestler does his moves differently like in real life. Watching the Rock and anybody else doing a DDT, you can see the difference in how they perform the move. Another good example is watching the Undertaker, Kane, and Big Show doing the chokeslam. Also, every animation, like reversals for example, moves fluidly into one another like knife through butter.

The only problem with the graphics has to be the hair. It's made of just plain pixels and is just unnatural looking. The hair doesn't even move around realistically. It looks very bland and could have been done better. Other than that, the graphics are great looking and have been greatly improved since E3.

Sound : 7.0

There is nothing really to brag about the sound in the game. As usual, it has to be the worst aspect of the game, and the series for that matter. Music during matches is very repetitive and annoying, and background music in the menus is mundane. Also, sound effects aren't very high quality and don't really add any affect to the game. Yukes should have learned something from the first two games, even with the power of the PS2, the sound effects are just really bland.

Now onto the commentary, because of the limited power of the PSX, Yukes couldn't add any commentary at all. But now, with the powerful PS2, they could with Michael Cole and Tazz handling the commentary. Although it’s a nice addition to the game, it’s not exactly perfect. Tazz sounds like he just read off his lines while Cole really put emotion into his lines. But it can get repetitive (like a lot other things in this game) from hearing the same lines said over and over again and even at times Cole will yell out a name of a move that you haven't even performed or even thought about doing.

For WWF fans, you'll want to play this game again and again, for non-WWF fans, you'll pick it up every so often. With an unlimited career mode that never ends, you can continually make friends and foes just like in real-life. Also, you can make your own wrestlers in the most in-depth Create-A-Character in a long time and will take you about up to forty-five minutes to create one. Also, you can make your own arenas, pay-per-views, and stables. You'll have fun with the game but when matches are dragged out, the game becomes boring and you'll want to turn it off. But there are rewards for getting further and further into the game like hidden moves and body parts to make your created wrestlers better.

Overall Score ( not an average ) : 8.5

The game may have its faults, but it’s definitely the closest you'll get to actually fighting into the squared circle. Being a WWF fan myself, I recommend this game as a must-buy for all WWF zealots out there with a PS2, and for others that are interested, rent it to see if you like it. Other than that, the game lives up to its original hype and won't disappoint many.
