Graphics of Monsters Inc. are quite brilliant and well done, especially considering that the team of developers had a movie which was a good basis to start with. All 3D models' movements and animation are smooth and nicely built, and FMVs are directly taken from the movie. Environments are also quite detailed and developed caring very much of giving them that cool cartoony look, required by the genre, even if the textures are sometimes rather dull. Everything fits the style of the game; nothing particularly mind-blowing, but very suitable.
Also regarding this aspect, keeping in mind the original from the movie has been a good choice. Voice acting is in some parts exaggerated, as it is required for every decent cartoon. In general the voices of Monsters Inc., and this obviously goes for the movie and for the game, are funny, comical but not annoying. Effects are also good. Some words must be spent on music. The background music, even if a bit repetitive, is never exaggerated, as it sometimes happens in other platform games to fill blank spaces or to hide the poverty and the bad quality of the effects. Monsters Inc. tunes are not sticky, so you'll probably forget about them once you have turned off the console, but during the game they work perfectly.
As it happens for many platforms, Monsters Inc. is too plain and simple to make the player want to play it again and again. Even if some levels are somewhat complex, you'll probably find it boring after some hours. Also gaining extras from each level is not a great incentive to keep on playing. The reality is that some parts of the game are really frustrating, and jumping from a stage to another frankly is not the best way to waste your time.
