Characters in Evergrace look nice; they are built with an elevated number of polygons, with faces that are expressive and finely animated. Body movements, on the other hand, lack the smoothness reached in other PS2 titles. Another element developed with great care is the dress-up and equipment system which, for the joy and the fun of the player, allows the characters to really wear the objects you will find during your explorations.
The environments are repetitive, unrealistic, more similar to the ones seen on PsOne games than to what many expect to see on a game designed for a new console. For example, trees and other natural elements are rough and blocky, rooms look empty and lifeless, and textures are often too blurry for a PS2 game. On the other hand, the beautiful skies and the unique palette, full of autumnal colors that make the game immediately recognizable, are proofs that had it not been developed in a hurry, Evergrace could have become one of the finest looking PS2 launch titles.
Annoying slowdowns are another serious issue, in particular during battles.
