The graphic engine of Eve Of Extinction always runs smoothly, but there are many clipping issues and rare aliasing problems in the environments.
The character models are the best element in the graphics of Eve Of Extinction. While the most common enemies are a bit uninspired, the characters of the game are in general well designed. The 3d models are built with a good number of polygons, and the graphic engine handles without any slowdown more than 6 characters simultaneously on screen. The bosses you’ll encounter in the game are extremely convincing, and great care was used realizing the female characters.
Many environments in the game are definitely impressive and very polished. You’ll fight in many different places: in the streets of the city, in Chinatown, in a secret base, on the roof of a train and many more I don’t wont to spoil for you. The quality of the textures varies from environment to environment, from cheap and blurry ones to others that are very well crafted. Occasionally, there are minor aliasing issues, but clipping problems are more frequent. Every time you approach a wall, your weapon seems to disappear into it.
Light and particle effects are good, and many Legacy Drive attacks are quite impressive. The rod literally generates a “rain of lightning” that kills all the enemies in the surroundings. Shadows are created in real time by the engine of the game, but they are not always convincing. Sometimes, when you are approaching the border of a crate or a wall you have jumped onto, you can see your own shadow projected in mid-air. That looks quite odd, believe me.
Overall, the graphics of Eve Of Extinction are decent, but there are many problems that could have probably been fixed with some additional work.
