Crash Bandicoot: Wrath Of Cortex
Are you ready for the Wrath Of Cortex?

ReiSo, Sony's mascot Crash is coming on Ps2 on November 15th. And even if it's not one of the most awaited games to be released during this fall, we are curious to see if our beloved Crash will be as appealing and hilarious and silly as it's been declared. The new episode of the series has been developed by Traveller's Tales (in association with Universal): this is an absolute novelty, considering that all of the previous episodes had been developed by the Naughty Dog group. Besides this new Crash Bandicoot will be distributed on PS2, Gamecube and X-Box by Konami.

The story is quite simple: Neo-Cortex wants to become the best bad guy of the whole world, but before he can achieve his goal he has to face our bandicoot. So Neo-Cortex decides to beat Crash using a genetically engineered giant monster called Crunch. The bizarre touch to the whole question is that Crunch is a sort of giant evil clone of Crash.

To become powerful Crunch needs to wear some masks called "Elementals" because each of them has the power of one element (water, fire, earth, air). It's obvious that Crash has to find the masks before Crunch to defeat him and his creator Neo-Cortex. Nothing particularly original, but surely kinda funny and, why not, exhilarating.

From the latest news, it seems that the new Crash should substantially maintain the gameplay and the general statements of the previous instalments, but with some changes: first of all the totally 3d environments, some new bosses and characters (first of all Coco, Crash's sister, now a playable character), many vehicles to be driven (gliders, helicopters, submarines, jeeps etc etc. and I must add that Coco drives her own vehicles too, as a snowboard and a scooter), a more fast paced rhythm and so on.

There will be 30 levels plus some bonus levels and it's sure that Wrath of Cortex won't annoy the players after few hours, as it happens for the greatest part of platform games.

In general it's sure that the new episode will be less platform and more adventure, and the wonderful animations will be at an high cartoon style quality level. If you want to make a comparison, I can say that probably Crash will be from a certain point of view similar to the more awaited Jak and Daxter.

I repeat: even if Crash won't be the most awaited game of the season, we feel confident that the mighty bandicoot won't disappoint our expectations. At present we can only wait with a confident attitude for the results of the new developers, that have yet been appreciated in other Psx titles, as for example A Bug's Life.
