E3 2005: Atari announces new Driver game
New installment due next year.

- Atari announced today that the new Driver game will be released in 2006 for PlayStation 2, Xbox, and PC. The new installment of the series developed by Reflections Interactive comes after the less than stellar Driver 3, a game plagued by many serious technical and design issues.

The new Driver will feature new car physics, improved AI, and open mission structure integrated around a solid central storyline. The game will also incorporate online gameplay for console versions.

"The approach, style and gameplay of the original Driver game spawned a multi-million selling global video game franchise that set the pace for the action driving genre explosion of recent times, " said Cyril Voiron, Marketing Director, Atari Europe. "For the return of the franchise that started it all, we are focusing on the key qualities that attract millions of fans to the Driver brand and make it the success that it is."
