THQ announces Tak 2: The Staff of Dreams
Sequel to Tak and the Power of Juju unveiled today.
Thursday, April 22, 2004 - THQ today announced Tak 2: The Staff of Dreams, the sequel to Tak and the Power of Juju. The game, developed by Avalanche Software, is scheduled to release in October 2004 and will be available on the Playstation 2, Gamecube, Game Boy Advance, and Xbox. Tak is the first property released under THQ and Nickelodeon's agreement to create new cross-media intellectual properties for initial release in the videogame space with the express intent of migrating the properties to other entertainment media.
"With the recent success of Tak and the Power of Juju, we're excited to have an opportunity to partner with THQ in order to further the Tak storyline," said Stephen Youngwood, senior vice president, Nickelodeon media products group. "The first Tak provided a compelling gameplay experience, combined with a great story filled with humor. We're confident that this next version will provide gamers with an equally engaging experience."
Story
In the original Tak and the Power of Juju, Jak, a young shaman's apprentice, had the mission to recover moonstones stolen by the evil Tlaloc. The game was set in an ancient, tribal world where magic - called Juju - actually worked.
In Tak 2, Jak will continue his adventures against the evil Tlaloc. Jak will learn new magic powers, including the magic of the animals, allowing him to possess various creatures and turn himself into a Spirit Animal.
Tak 2 will feature new gameplay elements like new Juju artifacts and nine new nightmare creatures, and it will mark the return of key characters from the preceding game, plus new ones introduced for the first time in this game.
Tak 2: The Staff Of Dreams will be shown at this year's E3, this May.
