EyeToy: Groove now available
SCEA announced the new game based upon the EyeToy technology is now available in North America.

- SCEA today announced the release of EyeToy: Groove, the new game based on the top-selling EyeToy technology, an exclusive for the Playstation 2, developed by SCEE's London Studio.

Just by using the EyeToy camera, with no need to have a dance pad or use a controller, the game enables players to dance in time with one of the 28 licensed songs, from artists as Elvis, Madonna, Jessica Simpson, Village People, and Fatboy Slim, with no controller or dance pad necessary. The game will be released in two different packages, one without the EyeToy USB camera, for all the ones who already purchased it, and another containing the camera. The two packages retails at $29.99 and $ 49.99, respectively.

"As Sony Computer Entertainment America is dedicated to expanding the PlayStation 2 lifecycle through the introduction of innovative products, we are pleased to announce the second title in the EyeToy family so soon after the highly successful EyeToy: Play launch," said Ami Blaire, Director, product marketing, Sony Computer Entertainment America. "The interest and success of the EyeToy technology proves that consumers are looking for an active alternative to traditional forms of entertainment, and EyeToy: Groove is just another step in bringing the world of interactive entertainment to life on PlayStation 2."

The game will offer many gameplay options. Lone players can try out dance moves in One Player Mode, or choose to just interact with on-screen special effects in the Chill Out Room. The selection of multiplayer modes is richer, with Tournament Mode, in which players take turns to determine who has the best rhythm, reaction time and accuracy, Team Sync Mode, in which players can dance together, or with Battle Sync Mode, which allows players to dance together while being judged separately. "Coreographies" can be customized by recording personalized movements over a certain song, and players can also watch how many calories can be danced away by using Eye Toy: Groove's calorie counter. Back from EyeToy: Play is also the Video Message features, which allows players to record their personal video messages onto a Memory Card, not included in the package.
