Ubisoft announces Ghost Recon 2
"An insider's view of the way large scale conflicts will be fought in the near future." - to us, this sounds scary.
Thursday, April 8, 2004 - Ubisoft today announced development of a new Ghost Recon game, titled Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon 2, for PC and consoles, to be released during the 2004 holiday season. Ubisoft, which also hinted at two upcoming press releases that will interest the fan of the genre to come in the next few days, aims at expanding its lineup of war games to comprehend every segment of the military category, from historical to near future. To date, the Ghost Recon franchise alone sold more than 5 million copies worldwide.
Developed by Ubisoft Red Storm studio, the game should offer, according to Ubisoft, "an insider's view of the way large scale conflicts will be fought in the near future" - we guess they're cynic enough to suppose that there will indeed be wars in the next future.
Players will take control of an elite squad of special forces thrown into a tense political situation in East Asia, with a dramatic, realistic storyline in perfect Tom Clancy's style. The game will feature an entirely redesigned graphics engine and full support for online multiplayer action.
"With Ghost Recon 2, we have brought up the intensity and adrenaline in order to throw the player right into the middle of modern war-chaos. Our teams have been working on bringing immersion to the next level - and the result is simply amazing. You will really feel like you are at the center of a true war machine when playing this game." said Alain Corre, Ubisoft's Managing Director for Europe, Asia Pacific and South America.
Stay tuned in the next days for Ubisoft's "mysterious" upcoming announcements.
