PSX specs not as previously announced
Many last minute changes might make the PSX less exciting than expected.
Friday, December 5, 2003 - Today, in a Reteurs Japan Article, it was unveiled that the PSX will noy boast the same features originally announced for the device, even if Sony claims many of these features will be available through downloadable material available on Internet. Here is a list of all the changes:
The Japanese version of the PSX will hit the store shelves in Japan next week. The version with a 160GB HDD will retail for 79,800 yen, roughly $731 - people willing to buy the verison with a 250GB HDD will have to pay something more.
- Sony reduced the dubbing speed from its Hard Disk Drive on the a DVD to 12 times from the previously announced 24 times.
- The PSX will record and play DVDs only in DVD-R or DVD-RW formats, not in the DVD RW format.
- As planned, the PSX will not play CD-R format.
- There will be no video format support for many Sony digital cameras.
- The PSX will NOT play Mp3 music.
