Notice: Ps2Fantasy.com has been undergoing a major redesign for a long time. Ps2Fantasy.com will soon become PsFantasy.com, a professional network of websites covering all PlayStation platforms. We will offer more updates than ever, in-depth content, and a series of services to our community. During this process, functionality of this website and frequency of updates are very limited.
Very few details are known about this movie, that is scheduled for Japan release in Summer 2004 (no release date has been announced for the rest of the world). From trailers and footage, we get to know that Cloud, the hero of Final Fantasy VII, will be in it. If other characters from the preceding game will be involved or not, this is not clear. Few screens are showing Sephiroth, Final Fantasy VII main villain. But it has not been revealed by development staff if Sephiroth will be in the movie as an actual character or if these screens are only a reference to flashback scenes regarding Cloud's past. Another couple of characters has been seen till now in official footage: a mysteryous silver-haired man all dressed in tight black leather-like clothes dueling with Cloud, and another one sitting on a wheelchair, whose features are hidden by a sort of white sudarium entirely covering him. No details are known about their role in the movie or about their connections to Cloud.
Information about the story is rather foggy too. We are only given to know that after the events of Final Fantasy VII Cloud is living isolated from any other living being, pondering about his past and facing his responsibilities, in a world where cities are partially in ruins still recovering from the previous disasters. Despite this, people surviving after Sephiroth's Meteor destructive menace are now enjoying harmony and peace again. When all of a sudden a new menacing shadow is on its way to destroy the renewed stability: inhabitants of the planet begin suffering from an unknown sickness called Seikon-Shoukougun (aka Star Scar Syndrome).
