Winning Eleven 6 hits million mark
Konami announced that their football title for Playstation 2 has achieved sales of one million units in Japan.

- Konami Computer Entertainment Tokyo has announced that Winning Eleven 6, their realistic football title for PlayStation 2, has achieved sales of one million units in Japan within just eight weeks on sale.

Winning Eleven 6 is the precursor to Konami of Europe's Pro Evolution Soccer 2, which will be released at the beginning of November.

Compared to other football titles, Winning Eleven has always offered a great attention in providing a more refined and realistic gaming experience.

Creator Konami TYO is now refining the European version of Winning Eleven 6, with the Tokyo-based team implementing a number of gameplay additions for the resultant Pro Evolution Soccer 2, like

  • Extensive UMBRO branding
  • All new player kits and team rosters
  • Slight enhancements to Winning Eleven 6's intuitive control system.

"We are delighted that Winning Eleven 6 has been so well received in Japan," commented Kunio Neo, President for Konami of Europe. "It represents the absolute pinnacle of football games. With the refinements Konami TYO is currently putting in place for its European release as Pro Evolution Soccer 2, we are also very confident the game will enjoy equal success all across our European territories."

Just take a look at the photos of Japanese gamers who queued outside a Yodobashi store all night to get a copy of Winning Eleven 6 at the release date.
