Wednesday, April 17, 2002 - Enix America Inc. today announced two new games for 2002, Robot Alchemic Drive (RAD) and Grandia Xtreme, both for the PlayStation 2.
"Our 2002 lineup showcases destructive action via a robotic simulation, as well as technical innovations in an ultimate RPG battle system that are sure to thrill all gamers," said Paul Handelman, president of Enix America. "We're confident that these products will truly define and further establish Enix America as a quality publisher of top-tier titles."
Robot Alchemic Drive or RAD, classified as an action game, allows players to assume the role of a robot handler who must learn to remotely control a monstrously sized robot and engage in fantastic combat with gigantic aliens that are invading earth. Action occurs on two planes as large scale combat between giant robots wrecks tremendous destruction while at the same time, the humans controlling the robots need to run for cover from falling debris, collapsing buildings and automobile traffic all while trying to avoid being crushed by their robot.
Developed by Game Arts, the creators of the Grandia and Lunar RPG series, Grandia Xtreme, is the first original Grandia title for PlayStation 2 computer entertainment system. A dramatic story-driven adventure featuring an extremely sophisticated AI engine and deep character skill development system, Grandia Xtreme is known for its unique battle system. This new installment of the franchise features a highly refined battle system that captures the chaotic nature of group combat, and combines it with the finest elements of real-time and turn-based combat systems.
RAD and Grandia Xtreme will be publicly unveiled here in North America for the first time at the Enix booth #2340 in the West Hall during the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) in Los Angeles, May 22 - 24.
