989 Sports announced that MLB 2002, previously scheduled for a Spring 2002 release on Ps2, was cancelled.
Wednesday, April 17, 2002 - 989 Sports announced that MLB 2002, previously scheduled for a Spring 2002 release on Ps2, was cancelled. MLB 2003 will be released on Ps2 next year.
"We had to make two goals," said a 989 Studios representative. "The games have to be of exceptionally high quality and they had to be released at the beginning of the season. And basically, we couldn't meet those goals. The games would have pushed it into mid-season, and so we decided to wait, so that next year's games will be deep and impactful."
