Dragon's Lair arrives on Playstation 2!

Friday, January 11, 2002 - Encore today announced that it has signed a 3-years worldwide agreement with Dragon's Lair LLC to publish an entireley new 3D game based on the Dragon's Lair Franchise for Playstation 2 and Nintendo GameCube. The game is slated for a release in third quarter 2002. The game will feature more than 200 new rooms to explore, special visual and sound effects and an original music score.
"Dragon's Lair is a legendary franchise, and we believe that this new version will appeal to both classic gaming fans worldwide and a brand new generation of gamers," said Michael Bell, chairman and CEO of Encore. "Dragon's Lair 3D will set the standard for 3D gameplay by offering state-of-the-art animation and character movement, while staying true to the design and storyline of the original arcade game."
"We are delighted to partner with Encore, because they're as passionate about Dragon's Lair 3D as we are," added Rick Dyer, president and CEO of Dragon's Lair LLC, Dragonstone Software and the game's original designer. Many members of the team that developed the first arcade game in 1983 are already at work in Dragonstone Software Studios. Among them, the original Dragon's Lair co-creator Rick Dyer, one of the most creative minds in the industry of videogames, and animations producers Don Bluth and Gary Oldman. The composer Christopher Stone (The Secret Of My Success, The Stupids, Honey I Shrunk The Kids) will create the music for the game.
