Sony changes Playstation 2 Policy
Wednesday, January 2, 2002 - It seems that Sony Computer Entertainment America have decided to
drop all the licenses for the production of third party Playstation 2 memory cards.
"We continue to negotiate with SCEA for a renewal of the license and are hopeful that we will obtain a new agreement in the first quarter of calendar 2002" said Darren Richardson, president of Mad Catz, the most important third party producer of memory cards for Sony Playstation 2. Mad Catz lost their licensing rights on December 31st but they have still the rights to sell their memory cards in Europe.
