- Eidos announced today Salt Lake 2002, the official video game of the Olympic Winter Games. The game is being developed by Attention To Detail, a company based in U.K., and will be available in January 2002 for the Playstation2 and PC. The Salt Lake 2002 video game is the second product of an exclusive six-year agreement with International Sports Multimedia to publish video games under license from the International Olympic Committee.

“The Olympic Games is one of the few sports licences that has true worldwide appeal,” said Mike McGarvey, CEO of Eidos Interactive. “With such a high profile license and our sales and marketing expertise, we are confident of building upon the success of Sydney 2000 – The Official Video Game of the 2000 Olympic Games.”

The game will feature multi-player modes, realistic environments, real-time physics for believable character movement and six official events:

  1. Men’s Snowboard Parallel Giant Slalom
  2. Men’s Alpine Skiing Downhill
  3. Ladies’ Alpine Skiing Slalom
  4. Men’s Two-man Bobsleigh
  5. Women’s Freestyle Skiing Aerials
  6. Men’s Ski Jumping K120 Individual.
