GT Force wheel problems with GT3

- Many U.S. gamers have recently reported several compatibility issues when using Logitech GT force wheel with GT3. Considering that the GT force is the official GT3 racing wheel and that it's far away from being a not expensive peripheral, this represents a serious problem.

The players have reported that during the game the GT Force wheel suddenly stops to work in the middle of a race. A temporary fix for the problem is to pause the game, un-plug the wheel, and then plug it again in the console. This is surely a frustrating solution, since it ruins the overall gaming experience.

These the words from Sony about the issue:

"We did extensive quality assurance in our testing department with Gran Turismo 3 A-spec and the steering wheel for bugs and problems, and we never found this problem [with the steering wheel]," a Sony Computer Entertainment America representative said today. "If we had found that problem, we would have fixed it, but we never encountered it during testing. But we're concerned about it, and we're looking into it. We will provide some kind of solution soon."

"We apologize for any inconvenience you may have experienced. The PlayStation 2 computer entertainment system has an auto-diagnosis feature that automatically adjusts the settings of the console to run your PlayStation 2 format software at optimum levels. Please use the auto diagnosis feature to update the system settings when you experience trouble playing PlayStation 2 format software.

To use the auto diagnosis feature:

  • 1) You must be in the "main menu" screen of the PlayStation 2 console

  • 2) Highlight "Browser" and press the "triangle button"

  • 3) Select "Console" using the up and down directional buttons and press the "Triangle" button

  • 4) Select "On": using the up and down directional buttons and press the "X" button

  • 5) Insert a disc. The console automatically starts the diagnosis."
